Liceo-trained Jubille Briones Wins International Taekwondo Medal

Jubilee D. Briones, who was a member of the Liceo de San Jacinto Taekwondo club in 2017, wins silver medal in the 16th ASEAN Taekwondo Championship, Senior Female Light Category, last March 10-12, 2023 held in Manila, Philippines.

 

She became a part of the club, particularly the first batch of the school’s taekwondo team, when she was in grade 12.

 

The win of Briones is a new boost to the morale of her former teammates in Liceo coached by Jerry Villaranda Sr.

The school community of Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Incorporated (LSJFI) is very proud of and congratulates Ms. Carmina Cantonjos, Assistant Dean of LSJFI-College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) Department for being awarded as one of the 4  top performers during the “Cybercrime Investigation Mentoring Program for Philippine Criminology Academia” held last January 23-27, 2023 at The Marison Hotel, Legazpi City. The said program was sponsored and facilitated by the United Sates Department of Justice-Overseas Prosecutorial Development Assistance and Training (OPDAT) thru its certified lecturers/mentors in partnership with the Philippine Society of Criminologists and Criminal Justice Professionals, Inc. (PSCCJPI).

The Criminology Department of Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Incorporated commemorated the 9th founding anniversary of the department and its first dean, Otelo DineroS, last February 9, 2023 through various activities being a post celebration for its establishment on January 24, 2014.

 

The activities include holy mass, motorcade, community service, singing competition, intermission numbers, games, and social dance.

 

It is worth noting that since the establishment of the department, it already turned out 54 passers. From them, some became reputable public officers: 11 Philippine National Police personnel, 4 Philippine Coast Guard personnel, 6 Bureau of Jail Management and Penology officers, 2 college instructors, and some are connected with public agencies and private offices.

The chairman of the board of trustees of Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Incorporated (LSJFI), Dr. Francisco  Altarejos, who is the mayor of San Jacinto, Masbate, and the school president Dr. Monina Moya spearheaded the groundbreaking of the LSJFI building for the school for midwifery. Joining them were Mrs. Melina Bartolay, LSJFI Vice President for Administration and Academic Affairs, Mr. Renato Letada, LSJFI Vice President for Finance, Mr. Noe Esparrago, LSJFI Chief of Staff, Mr. Manuel Marion Alminana, LSJFI General Services Specialist and architectural consultants Mr. Rhodiebert Nuevo and Marl Gueta. Other school officials and Sangguniang Bayan members of San Jacinto were present during the groundbreaking.

 

Observers during the occasion who are mostly students were excited for the opening of the school for midwifery  that they dreamed for a long time now to exist in Ticao, Masbate.

Liceo de San Jacinto Yields 187 New Teachers

The 2022 Licean graduates, hopeful of their professional dreams. 

187 from Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Incorporated (LSJFI) successfully made it to the roster of the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) passers in the result released by the Philippine Regulation Commission this December, 2022.

 

The Licean LET passers placed in the following brackets:

 

Elementary Education

First Timers: 75

Repeaters: 81

Total: 156

 

Secondary Education

First Timers: 22

Repeaters: 9

Total: 31

 

 

Overall: 187

 

The school continues its streak as one of the top producers of teachers in the Bicol region.

High School Department Celebrates Filipino Values Month

The High School Department of Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Incorporated celebrated the Filipino Values Month last November 29, 2022 at the school quadrangle with the theme, “Magandang Kaugaliang Filipino: Isabuhay at Pagyamanin Tungo sa Matiwasay at Maunlad na Pamumuhay.”

Caridad Lumberio, New LSJFI Elementary, Junior High and Senior High Principal

Mrs. Caridad A. Lumberio, who hails from San Jacinto, Masbate, assumed post last August, 2022 as the Principal of Elementary School, Junior High School and Senior High School of Liceo de San Jacinto, Foundation, Incorporated (LSJFI).

 

Her first headship in her teaching profession was being a High School Head Teacher 3 in the English Department of San Jacinto National High School in San Jacinto, Masbate in 1988. After this, she became the School Head of San Pablo National High School in Mandaon, Masbate then transferred as Principal to Burgos National High School in Lagundi, Batuan, Masbate. Eventually, in 2013, she took a position as the High School Principal of Monreal National High School in Monreal, Masbate until she retired in 2016.

 

The LSJFI administration is optimistic of the services of Mrs. Lumberio.

Liceo de San Jacinto Student Population Swells

The student population of Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Incorporated (LSJFI) has swelled tremendously over the pre-pandemic period through the present. Mr. Noe C. Esparrago, LSJFI Chief of Staff, noted this as he addressed the new students during the orientation day gathering all academic year 2022-2023 college enrollees last October 12, 2022 at Plaza Añonuevo in San Jacinto, Masbate.

 

The tentative figure comes around 3,200, with the college making up the 2,400 and the pre-school, elementary and high school constituting over 800. The figures are not final because, according to the school registrar, the enrolment process this semester continues.

 

Mr. Esparrago came out with a comparison of 1,800 enrolled in 2018, 2,600 during the pandemic period and 3,200 today. “We (the school) are getting bigger and bigger,” enthused Esparrago thus drawing positive feedback and expectations from the audience and other observers.

Consistently bringing home the bacon from several tournaments in the past and the present, the Taekwondo Team of Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Incorportated (LSJFI), this year, was declared the overall champion in the 2022 Taekwondo Training Development and Festival last October 1, 2022 in Baleno, Masbate sponsored by the Department of Education (DepEd).
