Apparently showing a delivery capability, Liceo is set to kick-off its opening on September 1, 2020 (high school first this September) as all the critical components of its Alternative/Blended plan of action had been wrapped ahead of its original October 5, 2020 overall opening schedule.
“We are ready with our modules. Our teachers have been primed and the parents have been informed,” announced Senior High School principal Melina G. Bartolay, who, together with Junior High School principal Dr. Monina S. Moya and Elementary School principal Dr. Dizon Llacer, has been doing spadework for some time.
In anticipation of an imminent opening, the school first invited the parents to a meeting two weeks ago to iron out kinks in the teaching method that calls for a basic two-week learning cycle without face-to-face and announcement of pre-determined pick-up points for delivery of the modules.
“This means that the learning modules, each containing nine packets for nine subjects, will have to be picked up from the school by parents and returned two weeks later,” explained Bartolay, who is a retired former principal of San Jacinto National High School (SJHNS).
“Teachers will then evaluate these materials and return them for pick-up along with the latest modules covering the next two weeks,” she added.
“Of course there will be problems in connectivity, but we already set up the structures that will deal with these issues,” said Moya. Communication between the distanced students and their teachers will be through chat groups, text messages via FB, and other platforms. Likewise, the school, through the initiative of Chief of Staff Noe C. Esparrago, has organized a group of employees called health marshals tasked to enforce health protocols during the distribution and retrieval cycles. “We will have to be very careful to ensure that our Covid-free status remains intact,” stressed Esparrago who moderated the in-house meeting that literally arrived at full expense for the modules, scheduling of staff, and coordination of the various elements in the endeavor.
