First in Masbate Province!
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has just granted Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Inc. (LSJFI) a permit to operate Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, making it the first school in the province of Masbate to offer the course.
Jose Roland Moya, LSJFI Treasurer, enthusiastically reports to the public on his social media account (Facebook) entitled โFlying Higher, Surging Ahead: First in Masbate Provinceโ this good tiding, which he describes as another milestone for Liceo, especially as preparations for the 75th and 25th anniversaries of Liceo de San Jacintoย Foundation, Incorporated (LSJFI) and Liceo de San Jacinto (LSJ), respectively, go in fuller throttle. According to Moya, this development is now setting a high expectation for support from the alumni especially in terms of subscription to foreign journals, beefing up of the library materials, acquisition of medical and health equipment, and providing of scholarships to underprivileged but deserving students.
The opening of the BS Midwifery is a precursor to the offering of more Health Science Courses (HSC) in the school soon, especially BS Nursing, which is currently underway. The idea of offering healthcare courses is the brainchild of Dr. Francisco P. Altarejos, LSJFI Chairman, as an opportunity to further uplift the lives of the people of Ticao Island. Maria Concepcion Aslor and Diwat Felipe-Caรฑaresย are Deans of BS Midwifery and Nursing, respectively.ย
Dean Aslor assures the public about the schoolโs compliance withย the monitoring and evaluation instruments of the CHED for BS Midwifery. She affirms that the department banners standard compliance in various areas and features such as appropriate professional license, full-time to part-time ratio, clinical practicum faculty-student ratio, program administration, I.T. facilities, skills laboratory, physical plants, community outreach, faculty loads, laboratory/clinical facilities/classrooms, safety measures, waste disposal system, library and librarians, student and faculty lounge and canteen, clinical facilities and resources, among others.
Dr. Monina S. Moya, LSJFI President, asserted that the opening of the Midwifery course and other healthcare courses in the school is another dream come true for the people of Ticao. Noe C. Esparrago, LSJFI Vice President for Operations and Melina G. Bartolay, LSJFI Vice President for Academic Affairs, are assisting Deans Aslor andย Caรฑares in the smooth transition of the BS Midwifery and subsequently the College of Nursing toย their full operation.
